Cancer is a Paper Tiger
... In September 1968, Wang Te-ming went to hospital
for a check up. The cancer had spread to the lungs, and it appeared
to be a late stage of cancer.
Confronted with life or death, Wang Te-ming thought
of the victories won during the great proletarian cultural revolution,
and took his mind off the serious state of his health. Revolutionary
committees had been set up in all the provinces and autonomous regions
(except Taiwan Province) of China by September 1968. This inspired Wang
Te-ming and he recalled the happy moment when he saw our great leader
Chairman Mao during the second air force conference of activists in
the living study and application of Chairman Mao's works, which he had
attended. This gave him inexhaustible strength. On that very day, he
conscientiously studied Chairman Mao's teachings: "Imperialism and all
reactionaries are paper tigers" and "This army has an indomitable spirit
and is determined to vanquish all enemies and never to yield". He thought
to himself: "Like imperialism and all reactionaries, cancer is nothing
but a paper tiger. One must take cancer as an enemy, and never yield
or surrender to it, but use invincible Mao Tse-tung thought to conquer
it".
Inspired by Mao Tse-tung thought and under the
careful treatment of the revolutionary medical workers, Wang Te-ming
finally conquered the cancer...
